CORE DEFINITION

When two superconductors are separated by a thin insulating layer, a supercurrent can tunnel directly through the barrier without any applied voltage (DC Josephson effect). This is a manifestation of macroscopic quantum effects.

SCAFFOLDING EFFECT

psychology

Reduce cognitive load

Quantum tunneling through barriers. Between two highly coherent (superconducting) teams or individuals, even if there is a gap (insulating layer), information and tacit understanding can be transmitted losslessly through 'tunneling'. Coherence is the only condition for crossing the gap.

anchor

Anchor fast decisions

A thin insulating barrier is sandwiched between two superconductors. Without voltage, a supercurrent can tunnel through (DC), while with voltage, AC oscillations appear (AC). This is direct evidence of macroscopic quantum coherence, and its prerequisite is that both sides are 'coherent/synchronized'.
