SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Accepting true emotions. It can cause feelings of shame ("I'm unhappy, is there something wrong with me?"). Healthy psychology requires allowing sadness, anger, and fear to exist, as negative emotions are also survival signals.
Anchor fast decisions
Refers to an attitude of forced optimism, denying and suppressing genuine negative emotions (toxic positivity). The mechanism is emotional suppression and ineffective reassurance, which leaves pain with no place to go.
