Paradigm Stripping

INTRODUCTION
English translation pending.
CORE DEFINITION
In the Kuhnian sense, a paradigm is the set of tacit presuppositions shared by a scientific community, invisible to its members as water is to a fish. Paradigm stripping is the deliberate act of identifying those assumptions, ontological, methodological and evaluative, and suspending them, so that the boundaries and blind spots of the paradigm appear and new configurations become possible.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
- Assumption inventory: list what the field treats as self-evident and unspoken. - Counterfactual probe: ask what changes if each assumption fails. - External shock: use an outside case or foreign practice to disturb the preset.
Anchor fast decisions
Tacit assumptions filter what can be seen, so making them explicit removes the filter and exposes the walls they create. Once visible, an assumption can be questioned and replaced rather than silently enforced.
