CORE DEFINITION

A method of generating theory from data. It does not presuppose hypotheses, but rather allows theory to naturally "grow" from data through data collection, coding, and categorization.

A powerful tool for inductive reasoning. When entering a completely new field (e.g., "Gen Z social interaction"), discard all biases. Do not impose old theories on it. First collect fragments and see what patterns they form on their own.

Anchor fast decisions

Proposed by Glaser and Strauss, it is an inductive qualitative methodology. It does not set hypotheses in advance, but starts from empirical data, and through open coding → axial coding → selective coding, gradually abstracts concepts and categories, then rises to theory. The theory is "grounded" in data and is continuously modified through constant comparison until saturation.
