FRBR
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
It divides bibliographic resources into four levels: Work → Expression → Manifestation → Item — distinguishing "content" from "carrier".
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Separation of content and form. The same "work" can have multiple "expressions" (translations, adaptations) and multiple "manifestations" (print, electronic).
Anchor fast decisions
It specifies which functional items should be included in bibliographic records (FRBR framework), organizing metadata from a unified functional perspective to improve retrieval and sharing.
