CORE DEFINITION
A non-violent feedback structure: Situation → Behavior → Impact. Only describe observed facts, without judging the other person's motives or character.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Bypassing defense mechanisms. Instead of saying "You are unprofessional" (judgment), say "In yesterday's meeting (S), you interrupted the client three times (B), which caused the client to stop speaking later (I)."
Anchor fast decisions
Transform feedback from 'judging the person' to 'describing the event': the situation anchors objective time and space, the behavior only describes observable actions (without speculating on motives), and the impact explains the real consequences on results or others. This 'fact-behavior-consequence' chain makes it difficult for the receiver to deny, thereby reducing defensiveness and focusing on improvement.
