INTRODUCTION

English translation pending.

CORE DEFINITION

BOPPPS is a lesson planning model with six stages: bridge-in, objective, pre-assessment, participatory learning, post-assessment and summary. The bridge captures attention and links the topic to what learners already care about; the objective and pre-assessment locate the starting point; participatory learning is the core, where learners work actively rather than listen; post-assessment checks whether the objective was met; and the summary consolidates what was learned. The structure forms a closed feedback loop centred on the learner rather than the lecturer.

SCAFFOLDING EFFECT

psychology

Reduce cognitive load

- Bridge the gap: open with something that makes learners genuinely want the answer. - Centre the middle: make participatory learning the longest stage of the whole lesson. - Close the loop: post-test against the stated objective and summarise what was learned.

anchor

Anchor fast decisions

Attention and relevance determine whether learners engage at all, so the bridge-in connects the topic to something they already care about. The pre-assessment then reveals what they already know, which lets the teacher pitch the content at the right level instead of covering material twice. Participatory learning converts listening into doing, which is where understanding is built, and the post-assessment supplies evidence of whether the objective was reached. The summary consolidates the material, and the assessment result informs the next lesson.
