Necessity and sufficiency, abbreviated as necessary and sufficient conditions, are terms in logic used to describe the conditional or implicational relationship between two statements. In logic: When the proposition "If P then Q" is true, P is called a sufficient condition for Q, and Q is called a necessary condition for P.
