Bose-Einstein Condensate, BEC
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
Under extreme conditions near absolute zero, a large number of bosons occupy the same quantum state, behaving like a single super atom. Individual differences disappear, and the whole exhibits macroscopic quantum effects (such as superfluidity).
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
A metaphor for extreme uniformity in collectivism. When a group is in a 'low temperature' (lacking external energy input, closed environment) and high-pressure state, individual independence collapses, giving rise to a frightening, perfectly synchronized 'super-individual' behavior (such as fanatical mass movements).
Anchor fast decisions
At extremely low temperatures approaching absolute zero, a large number of bosons condense into the same quantum ground state, forming a macroscopic quantum state of matter. Predicted by Bose and Einstein between 1924 and 1925, first experimentally realized in 1995.
