CORE DEFINITION
The brain is compared to a theater. Most neural activity occurs unconsciously in the background (audience/backstage). Only when information is important enough to be illuminated by a "spotlight" and broadcast to all brain regions does it become "conscious" content. Scaffolding role: attention broadcasting mechanism. In organizational communication, the CEO acts as the "global workspace." They do not need to process all information but must be responsible for filtering out the most important signals and broadcasting them to everyone, thereby coordinating independent departments (brain regions) to work together.
