Reduce cognitive load
The critic's curse. When you stand on a moral or intellectual high ground to accuse others, you are in the most vulnerable state. Arrogance blinds your eyes. Before correcting others, check yourself three times.
Anchor fast decisions
When a person stands on a high ground to criticize others' spelling/grammar, the focus of attention shifts to 'finding faults', making oneself more prone to the same type of error; arrogance increases the probability of blind spots.
