INTRODUCTION

English translation pending.

CORE DEFINITION

A treatment principle from traditional Chinese medicine grounded in the five-phase generative cycle, in which water generates wood. The kidney stores yin, and the liver and kidney are held to share one source, so depletion of kidney yin drains liver yin as well. With insufficient yin to hold it in place, liver yang loses its anchor and rises, producing dizziness, tinnitus, a dry throat and a wiry thin pulse. The method tonifies kidney yin instead of suppressing liver yang directly, and applies only where the pattern is deficiency with internal heat, not excess fire.

SCAFFOLDING EFFECT

psychology

Reduce cognitive load

- Anchor the Root: steady a shaking trunk by watering the soil beneath it rather than propping the trunk - Locate the Cause: when the crown sways, check whether the ground dried out before treating the crown - Supply Side First: restore what the rising force depends on instead of clamping the force down

anchor

Anchor fast decisions

Kidney yin and liver yin share a common source, so a drain on the kidney draws down the liver as well. Yang cannot rest without the yin substance beneath it, and once that substance is thin the yang drifts upward. Suppressing the drift leaves the shortage in place, so the symptom returns. Nourishing the water phase rebuilds the substance that yang rests on, and the rising force settles by itself. The intervention works on the supply side of the imbalance rather than on its visible output.
