CORE DEFINITION

If your belief does not allow you to make different predictions about the future (i.e., no matter what happens, your belief can explain it), then this belief is a "free rider" that does not pay rent (provide predictive value) for your cognitive model.

Belief cleaning. Clean out ambiguous nonsense (e.g., "As long as you work hard, you will get results"). Keep beliefs that dare to bet (e.g., "If I do A, outcome B has an 80% probability of occurring, otherwise my model is wrong").

Valuable beliefs must have "falsifiable predictive power"—they can distinguish different futures and guide betting; "free rider" beliefs that are self-consistent with any outcome have no informational value, just empty words.
