CORE DEFINITION

Stagnant appetite, no desire to eat. This is the most sensitive indicator of damage to the qi of the spleen and stomach.

SCAFFOLDING EFFECT

psychology

Reduce cognitive load

System shutdown signal. Don't force the patient to eat. Loss of appetite indicates that the system is 'refusing service', possibly concentrating energy to fight pathogens, or it may be paralyzed. Forcing food at this time increases the burden. First restore the appetite qi, let the system come back online.

anchor

Anchor fast decisions

Loss of appetite means the stomach is stagnant and unwilling to eat, and is the most sensitive signal of damage to the qi of the spleen and stomach. As a metaphor for 'system shutdown signal': the system refuses service, possibly concentrating energy to fight pathogens, or it may be paralyzed; forced input increases the burden.
