Mental Centrifuge
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
Imagine placing your thoughts into a centrifuge and spinning them at high speed. Heavy, substantive thoughts (facts, principles) are flung to the outer ring and retained, while light, insubstantial thoughts (emotions, guesses, nonsense) float in the middle and are separated out.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
High-intensity thought purification. When processing complex information, actively apply 'centrifugal force' (e.g., high-pressure questioning, extreme hypothesis testing) to force information to stratify, discard emotional foam, and retain only the densest substance.
Anchor fast decisions
A metaphor for using a centrifuge-like method to settle and stratify mixed thoughts by weight, allowing what is truly important to sink, and letting distracting thoughts float up to be removed.
