Team Co-Creation Method

INTRODUCTION

CORE DEFINITION
Team co-creation is a family of facilitation techniques in which members participate as equals in producing a plan, a definition, or a vision. A typical sequence is card, cluster, and name: each member writes ideas alone, the ideas are merged and grouped, and every cluster receives a name. The output is a result the group genuinely owns, precisely because the group itself built it rather than received it.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
- Extract collective intelligence: use a designed process so every member actually contributes - Split divergence from convergence: collect first, and cluster and name only afterward - Keep the host neutral: the facilitator shapes the process and never the answer
Anchor fast decisions
Status and speed let the loudest or most senior voice settle a question before the room's knowledge is even out. Writing alone before speaking removes that dominance, and clustering the cards equalizes the ideas, so patterns emerge from the whole set. Naming each cluster forces the group to negotiate a shared category, and negotiating it is what produces ownership.
