Four Roots Analysis

INTRODUCTION
English translation pending.
CORE DEFINITION
From Schopenhauer's On the Fourfold Root of the Principle of Sufficient Reason, four kinds of ground answer four kinds of why. The ground of becoming is causality for physical events, the ground of knowing is logical inference, the ground of being covers mathematical and spatial-temporal relations, and the ground of acting is motivation for the will. Each type of phenomenon demands its own type of explanation, and the four senses of because are not interchangeable.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
- Sort the why: classify any why-question into one of the four roots before answering - Match ground to domain: use causality for physics, inference for logic, relations for math, motive for action - Prevent category drift: refuse to apply one root's reasoning where another root governs
Anchor fast decisions
The word because carries a different meaning in each domain. Causal grounds link physical events, logical grounds connect premises to conclusions, mathematical grounds rest on spatial-temporal relations, and motivational grounds explain actions through the will. Mixing them silently produces an answer that is grammatically sound yet structurally wrong, because the connective is borrowed from the wrong layer of reality.
