CORE DEFINITION

The frog in the well believes the sky is only as big as the well's opening. This is not due to poor eyesight, but because the 'environment' (constrained by the well) limits its cognitive boundaries.

SCAFFOLDING EFFECT

psychology

Reduce cognitive load

Information cocoon. Your cognitive boundaries are your environmental boundaries. To break cognitive limitations, the only way is to physically 'jump out of the well' (switch circles, industries, or countries).

anchor

Anchor fast decisions

Cognitive boundaries are determined by the environment ('the well'), not by sensory defects; without leaving the environment, one cannot perceive a larger truth. It is a metaphor for information cocoons / cognitive limitations.
