BIA uses qualitative and quantitative assessment to convert "how important a process is" into rankable metrics. It measures the financial, operational, compliance, and reputational losses that accumulate over time due to disruption, and combines with Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption (MTPD), Recovery Time Objective (RTO), and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) to determine which functions must be restored first and what resources are needed.
