CORE DEFINITION
Based on the two dimensions of "concern for self" and "concern for others", conflict strategies are divided into five types: competing (forcing), accommodating (yielding), avoiding (postponing), collaborating (win-win), and compromising (trade-off). Scaffolding role: strategy selection. There is no best strategy, only the most suitable one. Use "competing" in urgent situations, "avoiding" for trivial matters, and "accommodating" when relationships are important. Don't always use the same approach.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Strategy selection. There is no best strategy, only the most suitable one. Use "competing" in urgent situations, "avoiding" for trivial matters, and "accommodating" when relationships are important. Don't always use the same approach.
Anchor fast decisions
Using "concern for self" and "concern for others" as two axes, five conflict handling strategies are formed. The combination of high and low dimensions determines the strategy: high self-low other = competing, low self-high other = accommodating, low-low = avoiding, high-high = collaborating, medium-medium = compromising. There is no absolute optimum; adapt to the situation.
