CORE DEFINITION

Rank Order Centroid, a method for calculating weights based on criterion ranking. Weights are assigned according to rank position: the first rank gets the largest weight, decreasing sequentially.

Anchor fast decisions

Precise scoring weights are laborious and subjective. ROC only requires ranking the criteria (from most to least important), then converting the ranks into weights using the reciprocal sum: the first rank gets the largest weight, decreasing sequentially but summing to 1. It quickly transforms 'ordinal preferences' into 'usable weights'.
