25/10

INTRODUCTION
English translation pending.
CORE DEFINITION
In the 25/10 method, participants write bold ideas on cards which are then passed rapidly and randomly without being read, severing the link between each idea and its author. Each of five rounds of circulation ends with the holder scoring the card from one to five, for a theoretical maximum of twenty-five. Only the ten highest-scoring ideas are announced and discussed. The anonymity is the point, since it prevents authority and personal ties from determining which ideas survive.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
- Separate idea from author: remove every author's name before any evaluation happens at all. - Score in rounds: collect independent ratings from many holders rather than one judge. - Discuss the top set: let the ranking decide which ideas receive airtime.
Anchor fast decisions
In an open discussion, the value assigned to an idea correlates with the status of whoever proposed it, so good ideas from junior people get filtered out. Anonymity removes the identity cue, and multiple independent rounds aggregate many judgments instead of one. The ranking then reflects the content rather than the source.
