Ohm's Law
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-28
CORE DEFINITION
In electrical circuits, Ohm's law states that, at constant temperature, the voltage V across a conductor is proportional to the current I flowing through it. Mathematically, it is expressed as V ∝ I. Therefore, for any conductor (circuit, component, or resistor), the resistance R can be defined as the proportionality constant of this relation: R = V / I.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
In electrical circuits, Ohm's law states that, at constant temperature, the voltage V across a conductor is proportional to the current I flowing through it. Mathematically, it is expressed as V ∝ I.
Anchor fast decisions
In linear components, I = V/R; flow is determined by the ratio of driving force to resistance, with the three being linearly coupled.
