Hooke's Law
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
Within the elastic limit, the extension of a spring is directly proportional to the applied force. However, once the elastic limit is exceeded, the material undergoes plastic deformation (irreversible) or fracture.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Linearity and nonlinearity of pressure. Within the elastic range, the greater the pressure, the greater the motivation (linear); but once the critical point (collapse) is breached, a person or relationship undergoes permanent 'plastic deformation' (emotional death, trust rupture), never returning to the original state. The core of managing pressure is to identify this critical point.
Anchor fast decisions
Within the elastic limit, stress is proportional to strain (F=kx), and deformation is reversible; beyond the elastic limit, it enters plastic deformation or fracture, and is not fully recoverable. The system's behavior changes qualitatively outside the linear region.
