INTRODUCTION

English translation pending.

CORE DEFINITION

The infant projects unbearable raw emotions, terror or anxiety, into the mother. Acting as a container, she receives, digests, and detoxifies these feelings, then returns them in a form the infant can use. The same applies beyond infancy: a good leader or partner contains another's distress by absorbing it steadily rather than lecturing, processing it, and responding calmly, which is the highest form of emotional value.

SCAFFOLDING EFFECT

psychology

Reduce cognitive load

- Reception first: meet overflowing emotion with steady presence before any explanation. - Digestion: sit with the feeling inside yourself until its edge comes off. - Return: feed back what you understood in a calm and usable form.

anchor

Anchor fast decisions

Unbearable feeling is split off and lodged in another, who processes it and hands it back transformed. Because the raw material had no words or shape of its own, the container's capacity to think it is what makes it first knowable and then survivable.
