No-Cloning Theorem
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
It is impossible to create an identical copy of an unknown arbitrary quantum state. The replication of quantum information is necessarily accompanied by the destruction or alteration of the original information.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Establishes the physical uniqueness of information. Unlike digital information (which can be copied infinitely without loss), the deep physical reality is anti-replicative. This provides absolute security for quantum encryption and also metaphorically implies the non-clonability of certain unique experiences or states (such as consciousness).
Anchor fast decisions
Quantum states are described by superposition and entanglement, and measurement collapses the state. Linear quantum evolution cannot 'copy' an unknown state to another carrier without destroying the original state—otherwise, it would violate linearity or lead to contradictions. Therefore, 'unknown quantum states cannot be perfectly cloned.' This is the physical basis for the security of quantum key distribution (eavesdropping inevitably leaves traces), and it also reveals that information replication is not universal; deep reality has uniqueness.
