SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Evidence of evidence. Do not be misled by a single study (even an RCT), as it may be due to chance. Look at meta-analyses, which are big-data conclusions from all studies combined. This is currently the pinnacle of the hierarchy of human evidence.
Anchor fast decisions
Uses statistical methods to combine results from multiple independent studies, yielding larger sample sizes and more robust effect estimates, and to examine sources of heterogeneity.
