CORE DEFINITION
In contrast to "feedback" (correcting after the fact), feedforward is a control mechanism that adjusts before deviations occur, based on predictions of disturbances or inputs.

Anticipatory control. It shifts from "mending the fold after the sheep are lost" to "preparing for rain before it comes." In team management, this means clarifying standards and expectations before a project starts, rather than criticizing after mistakes are made.
Anchor fast decisions
Feedforward is based on observable disturbances or inputs, predicting and applying control in advance to "counteract" the impact of disturbances before they actually cause deviations; it differs from feedback, which measures after the fact. An ideal stable system often combines feedforward (predictive) with feedback (corrective): feedforward reduces the magnitude of deviations, while feedback catches the residual errors from imperfect predictions.
