Inward Sinking / Nei Xian

INTRODUCTION
English translation pending.
CORE DEFINITION
Nei Xian, inward sinking, is the late stage of a sore or boil in which the body's upright qi is too depleted to expel the toxin, so the toxin instead moves inward and attacks the organs. It is the opposite failure to yellow traveling: there the barrier is overwhelmed by force, here it collapses from weakness. The classical treatment principle is to support the qi while expelling the toxin, using herbs such as astragalus, rather than clearing heat alone. The constraint is that the remedy is reinforcement, not suppression.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
- Direction Check: ask whether a problem is being pushed out or driven inward. - Capacity First: test whether the system has enough force to expel the problem at all. - Core Defence: protect the centre before addressing the surface symptom.
Anchor fast decisions
Expelling a problem requires work. When the system lacks the strength to push outward, the pressure gradient reverses and the problem follows the path of least resistance into the core. Suppressing the visible symptom removes the last outward channel and accelerates the inward movement, which is why treatment must add capacity before it removes anything.
