Waxing and Waning of Yin and Yang
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
Yin and Yang are not static but wax and wane like a sine wave. When Yang waxes, Yin wanes (daytime/spring-summer); when Yin waxes, Yang wanes (nighttime/autumn-winter).
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Surfing the wave. Treatment and health preservation should follow the rhythm of the wave. In spring and summer, nourish Yang (following the crest); in autumn and winter, nourish Yin (following the trough). Going against the wave (eating ice in winter / profuse sweating) will be crushed by the wave.
Anchor fast decisions
Yin and Yang are not static but within certain limits wax and wane, oppose and constrain each other, maintaining dynamic balance (e.g., day and night, four seasons, physiological metabolism).
