CORE DEFINITION

Refers to employees who do not actually resign, but only do their job duties at work, refuse overtime, refuse to 'work for love', and refuse to regard work as the center of life.

SCAFFOLDING EFFECT

psychology

Reduce cognitive load

Redefining the professional contract. This is a silent rebellion against the 'hustle culture'. Managers can no longer assume that employees will dedicate themselves without compensation; they must clarify work boundaries and provide extra rewards commensurate with extra effort.

anchor

Anchor fast decisions

Quiet quitting is a boundary reset by employees after the psychological contract is broken: when extra effort is not reciprocated with equivalent rewards over a long period, they retreat to the minimum of 'merely fulfilling the employment contract'. The mechanism is to replace resignation with passive boundaries, retaining income while reclaiming personal life, and silently protesting against an organization that over-demands.
