Organizational Learning
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
As a whole, an organization can continuously create, acquire, and transfer knowledge, and modify its behavior to adapt to new knowledge and insights. This is achieved through single-loop learning (correcting errors) and double-loop learning (correcting rules).
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Evolutionary organization. A company is not a money-making machine, but a learning machine. The only sustainable competitive advantage for an organization is the ability to learn faster than its competitors.
Anchor fast decisions
The organization as a whole can create, acquire, transfer knowledge and modify behavior to adapt to new knowledge. Single-loop learning corrects errors, double-loop learning corrects rules (deeper level). Sustainable competitive advantage equals the ability to learn faster than competitors.
