Kiting
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
In combat, keeping your distance from the enemy and using ranged attacks to fight while running, so the enemy keeps chasing but can never hit you, until it is worn down. Scaffold role: winning as the weaker side. When your resources (health) are inferior to the opponent's, never engage in close melee. Keep your distance and use mobility and range advantages (such as asymmetric competition or asset-light models) to fight on your terms.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
- Win as the weaker party: never trade blow for blow when your resources are inferior. - Trade range for strength: stay out of reach and let mobility, not size, decide the fight. - Wear the opponent down: let the chase itself do the damage instead of forcing a decisive clash.
Anchor fast decisions
When at an overall disadvantage, use mobility and range to maintain a safe distance, preventing the enemy's strengths (melee/health) from being effective, trading time for attrition and space for survival, dragging the opponent into an unfavorable rhythm.
