Circular Motion
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-07-30
CORE DEFINITION
Proposed by Peng Ziyi in the late Qing Dynasty. The qi mechanism of the human body is a circular motion. The middle qi (spleen and stomach) rotates and drives, the liver qi rises on the left, the lung qi descends on the right, the heart fire descends from above, and the kidney water rises from below.
SCAFFOLDING EFFECT
Reduce cognitive load
Fluid dynamics model. Treating disease is repairing this circle. Can't the left side rise (liver depression)? Can't the right side descend (lung heat)? Or is the middle bearing (spleen and stomach) stuck? Restore the circular rotation, and the body heals itself.
Anchor fast decisions
The 'circular motion' refers to the qi mechanism in heaven, earth, and the human body moving in an endless cycle of ascending, descending, exiting, and entering, flowing without cease (such as spleen ascending and stomach descending, liver ascending and lung descending). Peng Ziyi used this to unify ancient Chinese medicine: life lies in the circular motion of one qi flowing; if the circle turns without stopping, it is healthy; if it stagnates, it is disease.
