CORE DEFINITION

Cathedral thinking uses projects extending beyond their builders’ working lives as a metaphor for far-reaching vision, transferable planning, and shared long-term implementation. It neither requires every medieval cathedral to have taken a century nor means the centralized software-development “cathedral” in The Cathedral and the Bazaar.
